To celebrate Granny’s birthday, we partied like it was 1999! Well, um, sort of. We went to an all-you-can-eat buffet and ate cake--her request. We’re party animals, I know. I really wanted to give her something special for her birthday, so I ended up making her some jewelry. Not just any jewelry, though. I made her a necklace that was constructed from her mother’s old jewelry:
For Christmas, I made my grandmother (Granny’s daughter) a necklace and earrings from her grandmother’s (my great-great-grandmother and Granny’s mother) jewelry. Sorry, this is sort of confusing—even for me! Here are some pics:

I just love making jewelry, but it is especially enjoyable to make things that are so meaningful. Do you own jewelry or other objects that hold a special meaning?? Tell me about the item(s) and why it is special to you! : )
Peace Out, Crafters!
You make such beautiful jewelry! I love the first necklace with the pink brooch--that is gorgeous! Lucky granny :-)

Those necklaces are beautiful! I love that they each have a story behind them as well. Makes them shine just a bit brighter, right? :)

ReplyDeleteI remember Granny Winn wearing some of these pieces. She would be happy to know that her daughter, grand daughter, great-grand daughter and great, great-grand daughter are still enjoying them. Awesome!

ReplyDeleteYour jewelry is fabulous! And even more so because it has meaning and memories. Happy Birthday to Granny!
